Graduation is upon us and here we are, getting all our scholarship kids out there with some funding. This year we welcomed 27 students (last year we had 16) from Chelan and Manson. Phyllis Gleasman, Lake Chelan Health & Wellness Foundation board president, Linda Parker, Scholarship Committee chair and Aurora Flores, Board member and committee member were gathered at the Chelan and Manson High Schools to announce recipients and their awarded amounts. These amazing young people have worked so hard the last four years that many of them are not entering college as freshman but as sophomores and juniors. Through the programs in both high schools’ students have the opportunity to complete college credits while they are in high school. Students earned anywhere from 5 to 65 credits. Those students that achieved 65 credits are entering college as juniors. Combining the students into the grades they will be heading for in college, there are now 12 freshman, 11 sophomores and 4 juniors. This year the amount awards for our students is – $46,000.
Thank you to the amazing staff that work effortlessly to help these students with their application process. From Chelan, Career Counselor, Amy Andrews and from Manson Gear-Up Counselor, Josh Little – Career Counselor, Jim Broome and Teacher, Jennifer Koth.
