The Bragg Scholarship & Continuing Education Fund
A single gift that has positively changed countless lives in the Lake Chelan Valley.
In 1995, Edna Bragg endowed more than a million dollars to the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Foundation to be used in perpetuity for healthcare education. More than $1 million to date has been distributed from the Harold & Edna Bragg Healthcare Fund from the interest earned on this asset. Scholarships are provided each year for college students and professional healthcare providers residing or working within the hospital district. Scholarships vary in amount, depending on criteria such as full or part-time status, and the number of years a student has studied in a health care major field. In addition, healthcare professionals may apply for continuing education available throughout the year. A scholarship committee made up of members of the Foundation Board of Directors considers applicants.
“We are grateful to Edna Bragg for allowing us the opportunity to support healthcare education in such an impactful way,” said Linda Parker, LCCH Foundation Board Member. “She left a generous legacy gift that will allow us to assist in educating healthcare professionals for generations to come.”
“If Edna Bragg were alive today, I would take the opportunity to say thank you. It’s wonderful to receive support for schooling. Students from small towns—like me—don’t have the same resources as those from larger cities. I’m thankful this scholarship is available to us,” said Scholarship Recipient Nesha Holloway.
